  • 2 medium bell peppers, any color
  • 1 white onion
  • Marinade remnants

How Do You Make These Easy Air Fryer Skewers?

  1. Cut the onion and peppers into 1” pieces.
  2. Cut the steak into 1” pieces.
  3. Cut the skewers to fit your air fryer basket. I measure the most narrow part of my basket and cut them to that size.
  4. Begin assembling the skewers by starting with a pepper slice, an onion slice, and a piece of steak, and then repeat until the skewer is full. Leave some room on each end of the skewers to allow for picking it up.

  6. Drizzle or brush the skewers with the remaining marinade.
  7. Cook the skewers at 400°f for 10 minutes, and 12 minutes for well done.
  8. Remove skewers and let rest.
  9. Garnish skewers with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve with steamed rice or lettuce leaves for wraps.

FAQs, Tips and Tricks

Can I use other types of beef? Yes, any type of beef that you prefer can be used. Just ensure it’s a cut that is well suited for quick, high-heat cooking.

How long should I marinade the beef? It is recommended to marinade the beef for at least 2 hours, but for the best results, marinate overnight. This will allow the flavors to deeply penetrate the meat.

How can I prevent the skewers from burning in the air fryer? Soak the skewer sticks in water for about 30 minutes prior to skewering your ingredients. This will prevent them from burning.

Note:  Any color bell pepper will do but red, yellow, or orange are sweeter than green and therefore complement teriyaki better.

Variations

  1. Tropical Skewers: Add pineapple chunks for a sweet and tangy twist.
  2. Heat Seekers: Introduce a little heat by sprinkling crushed red pepper flakes into the marinade.
  3. Veggie Delight: Feel free to add more vegetables like zucchini, mushrooms, or cherry tomatoes.

Where to Serve

These skewers are perfect for any occasion – from a casual weeknight dinner to a summer BBQ party. They also make a wonderful addition to your game day or tailgating spread.

Storage

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. They should keep well for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes until warmed through.

Common Problems and How to Avoid Them
