What is Huli Huli chicken? The name comes from the word “Huli”, which is how you say “turn” in Hawaiian.
It’s a classic dish from Hawaii that has been adopted by other Hawaiian-themed restaurants throughout the 50 states. The basic premise behind this wonderful recipe is grilled chicken marinated in a sauce made up of common pantry items like soy sauce and ketchup.
The name “huli” derives from the cooking method: while one side of chicken is grilling, it constantly gets basted with the sweet and sour sauce until it eventually becomes caramelized and sticky! In fact, many people believe that adding barbecue sauce to any savory meal will result in deliciousness!
